38 at 38

27 June 2007, 09:28 by Chad Reynoldson

I am an aging golfer, with diminishing skills. I am happy to report that on my last day of being 38 years old (the day before my birthday), I went out and fired a 38 in league golf. That is the 38 at 38.

What a nice present to give myself the day before my 39th birthday! Life is beautiful.

Merry Christmas

23 December 2005, 08:51 by Chad Reynoldson

I’d like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a happy New Year. Our holiday has already been fantastic.

We spent last weekend at my mom and dads in Manchester,IA. We had a great time and of course we ate very well! I wish we could make it back to my grandmas in O’Neill,NE , but we will be there soon enough at St Pats celebration, and hopefully sooner than that for a weekend visit.

Today we are leaving for Ogallala,NE to see Jane’s side of the family. Christmas Eve will be spent out at grandpa Tater’s farm eating chili and oyster soup. Christmas Day will be spent out at the lake with ham or turkey.

We haven’t seen both sides for Christmas in the same year since 1992! This is the very reason we have moved back home to be closer to family.

No regrets!

Snow, Snow, Snow

6 December 2005, 09:41 by Chad Reynoldson

We’ve been back home for 3 weeks now and we’ve already had 3 different snow falls each with 2-4” of snow. Today I woke up to another 2” and it was -2 degrees. I’ve been thinking of joining a gym, but with all of the scooping, I do get a lot of exercise.

Last Saturday I drove to Omaha and before I left Lincoln, it had started snowing. By the time I got to Omaha, it was really coming down. The Omaha radio station said to expect 1” only, so I kept going.

I was in Omaha for only 2 hours and the snow kept coming down. I finally had to cut my visit short and head home. On the way back, the same Omaha radio station said to expect 4” of snow and the worst of it was the I-80 corridor between Lincoln and Omaha, rats. A local friend of mine said to never believe the weather forecast in Nebraska and it is true.

The ride home was slow-going at 25-35mph. Everyone was single file where you could actually get your tires on the road. Some fools would speed around you, but you’d eventually pass them as they’d spin out into the ditch.

We knew we’d be moving back to snow, but I do not recall it being this frequent. I guess 12 years in Texas has softened me up more than I thought. I definitely need to speed up my time-table for purchasing a snow-blower.
